Remove Metadata from Images Online

Upload an image to inspect its metadata.

How to review and remove metadata

Upload a file, inspect the report and explicitly choose a removal option or mark individual supported fields Remove. Review the requested removals before applying them. A downloadable result is offered only after verification succeeds.

Available removal choices

Remove GPS and location, device identifiers, descriptive metadata or all removable metadata. Targeted privacy removal also clears maker notes and embedded previews that can carry sensitive values. All-removal retains required image structure, orientation and the ICC profile unless you explicitly choose the separate ICC removal option.

Removal support and limits

JPEG, PNG and static WebP are supported. The tool verifies its requested removals and image preservation checks; unsupported or unverifiable cases fail without a downloadable success result. Removing embedded text does not remove a visible watermark or a place shown in the picture.

Example: clear selected contact information

Inspect an image's creator contact fields, set Email and Phone to Remove, and leave Creator and Copyright on Keep. Review those two removals and inspect the output report to confirm the selected values are absent.

Processing, privacy and deletion

Originals, previews, reports and edited copies are stored privately on the ImageWing server, outside public media storage. Every private endpoint checks account or browser-session ownership. Preview derivatives contain no embedded metadata.

Uploads expire 60 minutes after upload. Downloads do not extend retention. Expired files become inaccessible immediately; the server cleanup command removes expired temporary files. Delete my files cancels active work; files in use are removed when processing stops or by cleanup. Presets are stored locally in your browser and exclude sensitive values unless you explicitly include them.
