Change Photo Date Taken Online

Upload an image to inspect its metadata.

How to correct an embedded capture date

Choose a photo, inspect Date taken and select Set to enter the intended date and time. Include an offset only when known. Review the proposed value and apply it, then inspect the output date before downloading.

Capture dates and other date fields

Date taken changes EXIF DateTimeOriginal and its embedded XMP equivalent, including supported offset and fractional-second representations. Date created and Metadata modification date are separate controls. Unselected date fields remain unchanged; file-system timestamps are not capture-date controls.

Dates and timezone support

JPEG, PNG and static WebP support the verified EXIF and XMP date mappings. Enter an ISO date and time such as 2026-01-02T03:04:05-08:00. Without an offset the timezone remains unknown; the tool does not assume your browser's timezone.

Example: correct a camera clock error

If you know a photo was taken at 14:30 on 2 January 2026 in UTC-08:00, set Date taken to 2026-01-02T14:30:00-08:00. Keep Date created unchanged unless that value also needs correction. No visible date stamp is added.

Processing, privacy and deletion

Originals, previews, reports and edited copies are stored privately on the ImageWing server, outside public media storage. Every private endpoint checks account or browser-session ownership. Preview derivatives contain no embedded metadata.

Uploads expire 60 minutes after upload. Downloads do not extend retention. Expired files become inaccessible immediately; the server cleanup command removes expired temporary files. Delete my files cancels active work; files in use are removed when processing stops or by cleanup. Presets are stored locally in your browser and exclude sensitive values unless you explicitly include them.
