Image Metadata Viewer Online

Upload an image to inspect its metadata.

How to inspect an image

Choose an image to extract its embedded details. Search the read-only report or filter a namespace, compare conflicting values and export a JSON report. Inspection itself does not create an edited image.

What the viewer can show

Available tags include capture dates, camera and lens details, GPS coordinates, descriptive text and rights information. Technical details include dimensions, orientation and embedded ICC profile information. Only values actually extracted from the file are displayed.

Supported files and missing values

Upload JPEG, PNG or static WebP. JPEG can contain EXIF, IPTC IIM and XMP; PNG and WebP may contain EXIF and XMP. A file can have no embedded metadata. This viewer reads embedded values and does not inspect standalone XMP sidecars.

Example: check for embedded coordinates

Select a photo and filter its report for GPS. If coordinates are present, inspect their stored values before deciding whether to remove them. An absent GPS tag means no value was found in that inspected representation; it does not identify where the picture was taken.

Processing, privacy and deletion

Originals, previews, reports and edited copies are stored privately on the ImageWing server, outside public media storage. Every private endpoint checks account or browser-session ownership. Preview derivatives contain no embedded metadata.

Uploads expire 60 minutes after upload. Downloads do not extend retention. Expired files become inaccessible immediately; the server cleanup command removes expired temporary files. Delete my files cancels active work; files in use are removed when processing stops or by cleanup. Presets are stored locally in your browser and exclude sensitive values unless you explicitly include them.
