Add or Edit GPS Location in Photos
Set photo coordinates and review your changes
Upload a photo and enter latitude and longitude to add or update supported GPS metadata. Review existing coordinates, check the new values and download the updated image. GPS writing is available only for formats and fields supported by the tool.
Metadata tools
Upload an image to inspect its metadata.
Enter latitude and longitude together. Coordinates are never inferred. Negative altitude is below sea level.

How to set photo coordinates
Choose a photo and inspect its current coordinates. Select Set and enter latitude and longitude together. Re-enter an existing altitude if you want to retain it; leaving altitude blank clears its stored value when setting coordinates. Review the proposal, apply the change and inspect the verified output.
Coordinates, altitude and place names
Latitude accepts values from -90 to 90 and longitude from -180 to 180; zero is a valid coordinate. An optional signed altitude uses metres and belongs to the same GPS operation. GPS values are written to EXIF and embedded XMP. Descriptive city and country fields remain separate from coordinates.
GPS writing support
The engine writes and verifies supported GPS coordinates in JPEG, PNG and static WebP. Enter decimal coordinates yourself; the tool does not infer a location, geocode an address or fetch a map. Camera applications may display embedded coordinates differently.
Example: correct an incorrectly tagged photo
Replace a photo's incorrect pair of coordinates with latitude 49.2827 and longitude -123.1207 when those are the values you intend. Re-enter its existing altitude to retain it, or leave altitude blank to clear that stored value. Review the complete GPS change before saving.
Processing, privacy and deletion
Originals, previews, reports and edited copies are stored privately on the ImageWing server, outside public media storage. Every private endpoint checks account or browser-session ownership. Preview derivatives contain no embedded metadata.
Uploads expire 60 minutes after upload. Downloads do not extend retention. Expired files become inaccessible immediately; the server cleanup command removes expired temporary files. Delete my files cancels active work; files in use are removed when processing stops or by cleanup. Presets are stored locally in your browser and exclude sensitive values unless you explicitly include them.
Frequently asked questions
Can I provide only latitude or longitude?
No. Setting GPS requires latitude and longitude together so the tool can validate a complete pair. Include the existing altitude to retain it; leaving altitude blank clears it when you set GPS.
Will entering a city fill in GPS automatically?
No. Place names and coordinates are separate fields. The tool never infers coordinates from text or sends them to a geocoding service.
Can I remove the current location instead?
Use the related GPS remover to review and clear supported coordinates, timestamps and descriptive location values together.
